The
"Run to the Far Side" is another San Francisco institution.
Every year on the Thanksgiving weekend people dress up as their favorite
Far Side character and run / walk 5 or 10 kilometers through the Golden
Gate Park. The race is sponsored by the California
Academy of Sciences, one of the nicest San Francisco museums that
comprises natural history, an amazing aquarium and a planetarium. The
theme is obviously based on Gary Larson's witty "Far Side" cartoon
series that introduces us to the every-day-life of wild animals, bacteria
and microbes.
