Mercedes was the featured marque on this 35th Palo Alto concours. | The legendary 300 SL "Gullwing". 1400 units were made from 1954 to 1957. Powered by a 3 liter, 240 hp in-line 6, the cars reached up to 150 mph. | In 1957, a roadster version was introduced. 1800 units were shipped until 1963. $11,000 bought one. | The gullwing doors were originally a side-effect of a space frame that required high door openings in order to achieve structural integrity. |
