Project #7, Part 4: Synthesis
Objective
Bring together in a final model in scale with color and texture, the landscape elements of our designs and the house. As you work on your model, continue to develop your original landscape objectives:
A) En entry sequence
to the house (containing "paths" and "places")
B) Places for outdoor activities: painting/sunbathing/gardening/barbecue/meditation/play
etc.
C) View "paintings" for the house you created
Design Process
I made a few small modifications to the design:
| • | I enlarged the deck area. |
| • | I changed the shape of the outdoor space south of the house from a straight line to a concave shape. This leaves comfortable, "positive" outdoor space. |
| • | The entrance path changed to a more organic shape, letting the visitor approach the house at an angle. The ocean view from the entry gate is maintained. |
| • | I added a plexiglass shield next to the pool to protect sunbathers from the ocean breeze. |
Implementation
The model is implemented in foam core and decorated with model railroad materials. Tectured surfaces are drawn on marker paper so that they can be removed and changed if necessary.
